A Sneak Peek at the Shanghai Expo 2010: Part I

Shanghai Expo today was amazing. My aunt's friend turned out to be a engineering and investment consultant who's company was responsible for the Expo Convention Center in the heart of the Shanghai Expo. More on the convention center later. By an amazing stroke of luck, when my aunt called her up during dinner, her friend had just got her hands on three guest passes for the expo. Those passes are very difficult to come by!

Main Entrance to the Expo. Each of these tents are eco-friendly to catch rain water for watering the

Sunlight catchers to illuminate the lower floors.

The site itself is huge. It would take days if not weeks to travel to every pavilion on foot. There are pavilions from dozens of countries from all around the world. Australia, Qatar, Luxembourg, you name it. The size of the whole expo is immense. It is a spectacle!

Forgot what this structure was called, but lets call it the UFO Pavilion

The gorgeous porcupine-like UK pavilion

We got to the site at around noon. There were still a lot of construction going on. Most buildings were ready, some looked like they were only half started. There were workers everywhere scrambling to get the job done. There were troops everywhere, helping with security and some site clean ups. We drove and walked around for about 4 hours.
